Visiting the U.S. (Summer 2008)

This summer we are visiting the U.S. for three and a half months. We flew from Nampula to Maputo and then took a bus to Johannesburg, South Africa before flying through Senegal and Atlanta to Seattle. We spent all of June in Seattle and it was busy and fun. Victor was finally able to meet all of my family and friends and the time leading up to the wedding was the best. Sunny's family came from Korea, the Beurskens and our cousins came from Southern California, and we had a great time with everyone else already in Seattle. Sunny and Peter's wedding was on June 28th and it was wonderful. The wedding was at the Good Shepherd Park under the trees and lanterns were strung everywhere. Our dad did the ceremony and Sunny's dad sang opera. Many friends helped and even the clean-up was fun.

On July 2nd we flew to Charleston, South Carolina. We have been staying with the Bryngelsons, Victor's American family. They are completely welcoming and I feel like I have known them my whole life. Everyone has shown the greatest Southern hospitality and we have so enjoyed staying with the Bryngelsons as well as the Walls in Summerville, the DaRochas in Greenville, and the Nichols in Augusta, Georgia. We will return to Seattle and then visit churches in Utah, and California before returning to Mozambique.

We have received great love and encouragement from so many people on this trip and we are blown away by the tremendous generosity people have shown us. We can not thank everyone enough for how well we have been treated and supported. Thank you all so much.
